For this assignment I chose to focus on macro photography. I used the macro setting on my camera hoping to achieve a crystal clear, up close, and detailed picture. Below is my best picture. Below are my 5 runner ups. During this project I learned that the focal point doesn't just have to be the closest point of view to look good (as seen in runner up 1 and 2).

For this assignment we used photoshop to edit the photo below. During this we used tools like clone stamp, crop, selections tools, levels, etc. Below is the before and after. The next picture was a car that I edited on my own with no direction. In this assignment I learned a lot about photoshop and I believe my skills have improved a lot. I now know what a lot of the tools do and I know how to use them to make a picture look professional.
For the second assignment, I chose nature for my topic, specifically macro nature photography. Below are 6 pictures, starting with my "best" picture out of all the ones I took. After that are the 5 runner ups. Throughout this project, the main thing I learned is that you can take great photos in the rain haha. The natural color after the rain left everything looking so much brighter and more vivid. I feel like I also really accomplished the macro look.
For this assignment we took a picture of ourselves and made it into pop art. To do this I gave the photo a threshold effect and used four different colors on each picture. In the end, my photo looked like pop art! Below is the original picture, the edited picture (the pop art) and a second one for fun. In the end, I learned a lot about photoshop because I had never used it before. It was really fun and now I can use the things I learned in this project in the future.
For my second photo assignment I am planning on doing Nature. I really want to focus on a more macro style and really draw your eye to a specific point. Below are some inspiration pictures for this assignment. These are my inspirations and I'm hoping to use this style while taking my pictures.
For the first photo assignment, I chose to focus on animal photography. Below is my favorite picture from this assignment. I wanted to focus on depth of field and focal points by basically taking a portrait shot of my dog. As you can see, the background is not in focus, while the dog is what draws your attention. During this assignment I learned that a picture can be used to capture personality. I used that strategy and took pictures of my dog outside and jumping, because she is a very energetic dog for her age and loves being outside. I also tried to get very simple backgrounds so that they wouldn't take away from my dog.
For the first photo assignment I've chosen to focus on animals. I hope that during this assignment, I can incorporate composition elements like rule of thirds and depth of field. Below are some of my inspiration pictures: These are some great examples of rule of thirds and depth of field. As you can see, the subject is very clear and the background isn't distracting or taking away from the focal point.
My images range from a slow shutter speed(left) to a fast shutter speed(right). As you can see, the subject is moving. When there is a slow shutter speed, like 1/8, the camera takes a little longer to capture the image, so the subject is out of focus. The shutter was open longer in the first picture making the subject appear blurry and obviously moving. But as the pictures move to the right they become more in focus because the shutter opens and closes a lot faster. In the end the picture on the right gives the impression of much less motion because the subject was only captured in that exact second of movement. If you were to zoom in on these images you would be able to see that the image on the left has a small depth of field, making the background more out of focus. And the one on the right has a larger depth of field, making more of the image in focus. A fast shutter speed makes an image darker and freezes motion(clearer). A slow shutter speed makes an image brighter and shows motion. A large aperture lets in more light and makes a smaller depth of field. A small aperture lets in less light and gives a larger depth of field. In this assignment we focused on the composition elements of photography. Some things we focused on were the rule of thirds, texture, perspective, space and many more. Below are pictures for each one of these elements. This project taught me a lot. The main thing being that photos take a lot more thought and planning than people may think. Photos take actual strategy and not every picture you take will end up amazing. I will remember what I learned in this project for years to come and use it to help me take pictures that I can be proud of.
Hi, I'm Sophia Zebrowski. Some things I enjoy are dancing, singing, acting and, of course, photography! My family and I love going on hiking trips and I love taking pictures of the nature all across the country. I've been many unique places like the Smoky Mountains, Monument Valley, and the Jersey Shore (taking pictures along the way of course). Thanks for stopping by!
